The problem of today that we are concerned about other than too much carbon dioxide is animal extinction. Many animals have been in the cut of of going extinct and the problems are rising for many animals such as the Malherbe’s parakeet This is a really known bird that hasn't been seen in the wild by many people. They are one of the world rarest and least-studied birds, that has fewer than 300 wild individuals on Earth and a total population of maybe 1000. This is not seen as a real problem so Ortiz-Catedral took action in 2009. He is now the head of the ecological restoration group at Charles Darwin Foundation and Durell Wildlife Conservation Trust and helped these birds in New Zealand. The way he helped these bird is by researching and nourishing them for a while and let them go into the wild to observe how they do. During that time Ortiz and a PhD student at Masey University was one of three scientist conducting regular surveys of Critically Endangered Parakeet Population Grows on the parakeets on Maud Island. The birds were doing so well they were breeding. The growth rate of these birds was so astonishing.
I chose this article first of all because i love parrots and parakeets. I love birds and i always have been a bird person. I think they are very interesting animals and they have the right to be in savior. Many people don't notice it that they are slowly fading away. it is hard imagining animals that we might not be able to see in he future re still here. They all need protection even as small as these small birds. This was a really interesting article because i surprised me as well that it was very fast how they were breeding. It is known that these birds don't do it often in public. In my opinion i find this interesting and surprising. This article does not really remind me of anything but its is still possible to help them.
The nest steps for these birds is to just be saved. I think that the program they did is very useful to help such birds. We don't want these birds to be extinct. They might not be very impact into our lives but they can still help us somehow to make research about other birds.
