Environmental Justice
-When the country finally tried to help with the reducing of pollution in the 1970's it was mainly focused on low levels of pollution -Many of the laws have actually helped fr example Los Angeles weather and air is in much better quality than it was a few years back -This is a political movement to be fair to people from all races and cultures -The studies shown that Latinos and African American people are usually closer to the companies that produce much pollution due to the fact that land is very cheap in those areas -The studies have a theory that pollution is worst in low income communities |
External Cost & Cost benefits
-The companies to reduce wasting money to throw out the waste they will throw it for free in rivers and large bodies of water -The negative pollution effects are External Cost that are passed into society -The government can help to reduce these actions from happening by taxing the company for polluting the river and that money can be used to reduce the pollution in the river -If pollution is rising to 100 % the social cost will rise up dramatically The story of broke
-This chapter consist of the money behind the scenes -The people pay taxes every month and then after some time the government waste it on things that are not useful and says "we are broke" -The truth is that the money is there but it is being use on the wrong stuff -It is being used for things such as oil and used on those big companies that produce a lot of waste into our environment -We as the people have the power to vote these things out of the system and can vote to give the money to people who are actually trying to find ways to help the community and our society as a whole -With the money we have now we can do a lot like double sizes of schools for education and give scholarships to kids to become the future |
