There has been many concerns on how much we use everyday, on how much longer we can live on what we have. The environmental issues are rising more each day but, they are not taken in consideration and we don't take action as a unified world. Both The Lorax and the Esters Island had environmental issues. At first they were not a great problem but through time the actions they took were impacted into their lives very seriously. The Lorax and Easters Island had similarities such as resource usage, sense of respect, and motivation to build a product. They had differences on possible betterments , location, and sense of awareness for the environment. As well did they have the connection with the real world today.
The Lorax and Easters Island had many similarities in resource usage, sense of respect, and the motivation to use a product. In the Lorax and Easters Island the population living there both had a product they both loved to do.The Lorax story had the Thneeds and The population in Easters Island will build monuments and for both they used trees as a resource. Trees were both very essential in the lives of the people living in these locations the Thneeds were made out of the leaves of the trees and the Easter Islanders used the trees to move their monuments or their stone heads from place to place. This was a problem since the resource they used was very essential to the environment which they did not have in mind to “give back.” Another area where The Lorax and the Easter Island had in common was the sense of respect. The sense of respect for the environment was not very well. The usage of trees and resources was done very frequently and they did not care about cutting them because of the sense of competition or profit. The both had the similarity in the fact that they both had a desires for a product for self pleasure. For example in The Lorax the profiters just wanted more and more to be done for he can earn profit endless of what damage it caused, he contaminated the air and even caused the animals to leave. In the Easter Island they focused so much on the stone heads they forgot how much they used and did no advancement in helping the environment after they damaged it in some way . They both had many similarities that contributed to the end of their society.
The Lorax and The Easters Island both had differences as well that led to the downfall of the society and environment. The first difference they had was the possible betterments in the environment. They both had possibilities of realizing to stop but, it was not taken into account. In the movie of The Lorax the Lorax himself was always reminding them that they had to be aware that he spoke for the trees he would show them them the animals leaving and at the end they had hope in the animals returning with these one seed that could be a message of hope in the betterment of the environment. The Easters Island was very different, first of all it was because they were isolated. They had no way of communicating with outsiders the only reason to leave the island was to fish because they did not have the enough material and resources to leave the island. The Easters Island do not have that reminder and when someone came into power and they did not have enough food they started war. So they did not have the reminder or the possibility by then to better the environment.
The Lorax was a book produced by Dr. seuss that meant to spread a message about environmental issues and this book connect with the real world today as well as the Article of Easter Island. They both have the sense of how we have people today reminding us that we can change the world and be cautious that we use so many resources of the world but we don't give anything back. Society tends to take the resources we have endless we don't pay attention on how much contamination we have done to the earth. Animal are going extinct, freshwater is not commonly found, wars and money is being spent on useless things that harm people. Our technology is so advanced that we think that everything will fix itself with technology. Both movie and article connect to the real world because we are running out of resources we fight against each other to get the best things when sometimes its useless to get. Both give us the message that theirs is hope for us if we take that chance and if we don't we might end up with nothing and fight all the time and eat “ourselves” such as like the article Easter Island mentioned.
In conclusion of both the article of Easters Island and The lorax had meaningful meanings behind them . They had good similarities in the usage of resources and even though and also they had differences that were similar in the way that they led them to not have enough resources to keep a society running. They also both connected to the real world today and they both help the readers understand that we still have hope in this world and we need to focus on helping the environment more often.
